Thankfully this week has been a lot less eventful than last week - if you missed what happened check it out here. Working from the office was definitely the right choice for myself. There are only 11 or so people left in there so there is plenty of space and it’s helping keep me sane! This second lock down really has affected me like the first. I’m an introvert so not a huge fan of going out anyway and I have a very small group of friends who I talk to frequently when I can’t see them. The only thing that really affects Matt and I is Matt not being able to play football. This means that I no longer get as much time for myself and when we’re together we aren’t great at then doing our own things, we tend to just sit and watch too much TV together.
Speaking of TV - today the Crown is back on Netflix - luckily, the weather is absolutely awful in Ipswich today so I am more than happy to curl up on the sofa with our haul of snacks from Tesco (none of which I would consider to be healthy) and just binge eat and watch! Is that awful?
I am not sure what is going on with my current cycle but as far as I can see from my basal body temperatures, I have not yet ovulated. Now, I know the body is very clever in that it can prevent ovulation during times of high stress and last week had me feeling more stressed than I have in a long time. After all, the last thing a stressed body needs is to grow a fetus. So to not ovulate is, once in a while, completely ok. It does, however, mean that I have no idea when my period will be? Did you know that if you take hormonal birth control, you don’t actually have a true period, it’s just a ‘break through’ bleed. A true period only happens when you ovulate and all hormonal birth control prevents ovulation.
In house news we have not exchanged, we have also not heard anything from the solicitor regarding exchange, honestly this guy has not contacted me once! So I call him, he doesn’t answer but his assistant does. She told me that the searches, that we meant to take place on 27th October, have not taken place and she couldn’t tell me when they would. All she said is that she would update me if there was any news and I have not heard from her. In happier house news, me and Matt went for a walk on Saturday and the house build looks to be complete and the wooden roof apex is on! That means we are nearly water tight and the inside can start being done. How exciting is that?! Once the roof is on, pending Covid restrictions, we will be able to go into OUR HOUSE and have a look around. It's a bit surreal buying a house that we haven’t seen, there is also no show home so we have literally bought it from floor plans and computer generated images.
When I got home from work the other evening I walked in and something just didn’t feel right, I walked through the flat and noticed that the bathroom door was pushed closed, we never ever close the bathroom door, the hallways cupboard door was also open, Matt left after me so there was every possibility he left it open after getting his jacket but it didn’t seem right. Yet nothing looked out of place so I just got on with my evening and did a workout etc. When I turned the shower on, I noticed that the shower head didn’t look right…. Then I noticed that the whole shower fitting was different. This didn't make sense as there was nothing wrong with our shower and no one from the management department had been in touch. So the following day I emailed the site manager who replied very apologetically explaining that she was meant to send the work men to a different building, same flat number, wrong building! So some poor sod never got their new shower, I hope they do now! I am not compiling though as the new shower is a delight.
There is also no sign of my new bike! Which I am now worried about. As per their website it’s now out of stock and no one can tell me if my order was fulfilled before they ran out of stock. Wonderful. I am a very impatient person so; 1) having to wait is not ideal and; 2) no one seems to be able to update me.
The post I shared in the week is all about how our subconscious mind controls our reactions in certain situations. If you follow me on Instagram then you will have seen my posts about my troubles with reacting in stressful situations. On the blog, which you can find here, I look at why we react and what we can do to retrain our subconscious so that we can respond from a place and kindness and love.
I hope that you have all had a lovely week and that you are all staying safe.
